Keylark Add Keylark to Chrome

For worship teams

New songs most weeks, and not everyone on the team plays. Keylark lets a singer join in on keys without learning each song first.

This week’s songs, under your hands

Play the song in a Chrome tab, plug in a keyboard and press keys in time. Keylark listens and picks every note from the chords it hears: your left hand plays the bass and your right hand the chords. You keep the rhythm and sing over it.

Play it twice

The first time through, Keylark plays along by ear while it learns the song, and it is least sure just after a chord changes. Play the song again and it plays from what it learned, so it knows where the song is going.

On the day

YouTube’s terms are for personal listening, so use YouTube to practise. In front of a congregation, open your own backing track instead, a song file such as an MP3. Keylark learns a song file before it plays.

What you need

  • Chrome or Edge on a computer.
  • A MIDI keyboard, or just your computer’s keys A to K.
  • Wired headphones or the laptop’s speakers: Bluetooth makes every note late.
